Before Installation

Plan Before You Mount

A few minutes of preparation can prevent weak signals, blocked camera views, awkward switch placement, and repeated resets. Confirm the product requirements first, then choose a location that supports both performance and everyday convenience.

01 Check compatibility Review the required app, hub, Wi-Fi band, operating system, power source, and supported home platform.
02 Confirm the signal Test Wi-Fi at the exact installation point before drilling, mounting, or securing the device.
03 Choose the right view Keep cameras and sensors clear of glass glare, moving curtains, heat sources, and heavy obstruction.
04 Prepare safe power Use the included power method and a qualified installer for hardwired work whenever required.
Recommended Order

Follow One Setup Sequence

Keep the process simple by finishing one stage before moving to the next. Pairing devices in a clear order makes troubleshooting faster and keeps names, rooms, alerts, and permissions organized.

Five Stages
01 / Prepare

Charge and update

Charge battery devices, install the correct app, sign in, enable Bluetooth when requested, and update your phone.

02 / Connect

Join the network

Confirm the supported Wi-Fi band, stay near the router during pairing, and review network permissions.

03 / Pair

Add one device

Put the device into pairing mode, complete the in-app steps, and wait for confirmation before adding another product.

04 / Place

Mount and label

Install the device in its planned location, assign the correct room, and give it a clear, unique name.

05 / Verify

Test the full routine

Check live control, notifications, schedules, guest access, scenes, sensor triggers, and recovery after a restart.

Network Foundation

Build the Network First

Smart products depend on a steady connection. Place the router or hub where it can reach key rooms, keep device names easy to recognize, and avoid adding the entire home at once.

2.4
Use the supported Wi-Fi band Many smart devices use 2.4 GHz for longer reach, while some also support 5 GHz. Follow the product requirements.
01
Pair near the router Complete first-time pairing close to the router or hub, then move the device to its final location and test again.
UP
Keep firmware current Install device, hub, and app updates before creating advanced scenes or automations.

Security & Access

Secure Every Entry

Use clear sightlines for cameras and doorbells, confirm door alignment for locks and sensors, and test alerts from inside and outside the home before relying on routines.

Security Cameras Video Doorbells Smart Door Locks Alarm Systems Door Sensors Garage Control
1
Test the field of view Check daytime and nighttime visibility, glare, motion zones, and privacy boundaries before final mounting.
2
Verify entry alignment Make sure doors, windows, locks, and sensors close smoothly and remain aligned during normal use.
3
Test every alert path Trigger motion, open-close events, lock access, alarm states, and garage status to confirm notifications arrive.
SMART SWITCH SMART PLUG LIGHT STRIP
Lighting Pair, group, schedule, and tune each light by room.
Lighting & Power

Light Every Routine

Start with one bulb, strip, plug, or switch, confirm reliable control, then group products by room. Keep names simple so voice control and automations remain easy to understand.

Smart Bulbs Light Strips Switches Dimmers Smart Plugs Outdoor Lighting
1
Pair before grouping Add and test each light individually before creating room groups, scenes, or synchronized schedules.
2
Keep power available Smart bulbs and strips need continuous power for app and voice control. Avoid switches that are frequently turned off.
3
Use qualified installation For hardwired switches, dimmers, or outlets, use a qualified installer and never work on a live circuit.

Climate & Sensing

Balance Every Room

Keep temperature, humidity, and air quality sensors away from direct sun, vents, steam, and exterior drafts. Place leak detectors at likely water points and test notification timing before creating routines.

Home Hubs Thermostats Temperature Sensors Air Quality Smart Blinds Leak Detectors
1
Choose a neutral location Place environmental sensors where they can measure the room without direct heat, cold, moisture, or sunlight.
2
Confirm system compatibility Before installing a thermostat or powered controller, verify the supported system and use a qualified installer when needed.
3
Test alerts at the source Trigger sensor tests, review app readings, and confirm the intended household members receive notifications.
Room Blueprint

Organize by Room

Create names that describe both location and function. Clear labels make app control, voice commands, notifications, and household access much easier.

Front Entry

Secure arrivals

Use clear names for the doorbell, lock, porch light, door sensor, and entry camera. Test guest access and low-light alerts.

Living Room

Build scenes

Group bulbs, strips, plugs, blinds, and climate sensors into simple scenes such as Relax, Movie, Reading, and Away.

Kitchen

Watch conditions

Keep air quality, temperature, and leak sensors away from direct steam or heat while still covering likely problem areas.

Garage & Exterior

Extend coverage

Check outdoor ratings, Wi-Fi reach, garage status, camera zones, and lighting schedules under real nighttime conditions.

Quick Fixes

Solve Setup Issues

Start with the simplest checks: power, distance, Wi-Fi band, permissions, app updates, and a clean reset. Change only one variable at a time so you can identify what fixed the issue.

For hardwired products, garage systems, locks, or thermostats, stop and use a qualified installer whenever the product instructions or local requirements call for professional work.
The device will not enter pairing mode
  1. Confirm the device has stable power or enough battery charge.
  2. Follow the product reset sequence and wait for the correct indicator light or sound.
  3. Keep the device close to the router or hub during first-time setup.
  4. Close and reopen the app before trying again.
The app cannot find the device
  1. Enable Bluetooth, local network access, and location permissions when the app requests them.
  2. Confirm your phone is connected to the supported Wi-Fi band.
  3. Temporarily move the device closer to the router.
  4. Restart the phone, app, router, and device, then retry one device at a time.
The device shows offline after installation
  1. Check that the device still has power and the wall switch has not been turned off.
  2. Test Wi-Fi strength at the final location.
  3. Restart the router or hub and allow the system time to reconnect.
  4. Install available firmware updates after the device returns online.
Notifications are delayed or missing
  1. Enable app notifications and allow background activity on the phone.
  2. Review motion zones, sensitivity, quiet hours, and event filters.
  3. Confirm the device clock, home time zone, and household permissions.
  4. Trigger a controlled test and verify every intended user receives the alert.
Voice control uses the wrong device
  1. Give every device a short, unique name.
  2. Remove duplicate room names and old devices from the connected platform.
  3. Synchronize or rediscover devices in the voice assistant app.
  4. Use names such as Entry Light, Hall Lock, or Bedroom Sensor instead of repeated generic names.
A routine works only sometimes
  1. Test each device manually before testing the complete routine.
  2. Check conditions such as time, occupancy, location, brightness, or sensor state.
  3. Add a short delay between actions when several devices start together.
  4. Keep the routine simple, then add advanced conditions one at a time.
Safe Installation

Protect the Home First

Smart features should never replace basic electrical, access, privacy, or emergency safety. Follow the product manual, local requirements, and professional guidance for any installation that involves wiring, structural mounting, HVAC equipment, garage systems, or entry hardware.

Never work on live power Use a qualified installer for hardwired products and stop immediately if wiring or system compatibility is uncertain.
Keep manual access Retain backup keys, emergency controls, and manual operation for locks, garage doors, lighting, and climate systems.
Respect private spaces Aim cameras and microphones only at areas you are authorized to monitor and review household privacy settings.
Test after every change Recheck alerts, access, schedules, and manual controls after updates, resets, battery changes, or network changes.
